Christmas Quiz Night

We had a fantastic evening at our Christmas Quiz Night in December, with everyone who attended saying what a great time they had. We managed to raise over £350 too! We must say a HUGE thank you to everyone who helped make the night possible, including John Wright from RBC Marketing, Three Bridges Football Club and all the raffle prize donors - Crawley Garden Centre, Tesco Three Bridges, Chequer Mead Theatre, Toy Barnhaus to name a few.

Wellness Afternoon - 30th September

Our Wellness Afternoon for parents and carers was a great success! The afternoon gave our parents a chance to just get away from it all and unwind, and we were lucky to be joined by Jaycee from BeaBoldByJaycee, who led us in an upcycling activity to create our own special boxes from old cutlery trays. Parents and carers told us that the afternoon had been a time they felt was just for them, saying: "it helped me to relax and express myself", "...the stress and the tension fell away", "...was really fun", "it was really lovely to take two hours for myself...".

We are grateful to the Sussex Community Foundation, who funded the afternoon, and hope to be able to run some similar events in future - watch this space!

Wellbeing Evening

We had a lovely evening with parents, carers and young people joining for some relaxing meditation and mindfulness on 8th June.

The event was hosted by the Super Siblings charity, and gave parents, carers and young people who attended the opportunity to get away from it all and de-stress. Starting with a pre-meditation and breathing exercises, followed by guided meditation and reflections and ending with some time for chatting and laughing together.

Guided meditation was from Tara Brach's collection, which can be found by clicking on the link below.

I lounge on the grass, that’s all. So
simple. Then I lie back until I am
inside the cloud that is just above me
but very high, and shaped like a fish.
Or, perhaps not. Then I enter the place
of not-thinking, not-remembering, not-
wanting. When the blue jay cries out his
riddle, in his carping voice, I return.
But I go back, the threshold is always
near. Over and back, over and back. Then
I rise. Maybe I rub my face as though I
have been asleep. But I have not been
asleep. I have been, as I say, inside
the cloud, or, perhaps, the lily floating
on the water. Then I go back to town
to my own house, my own life, which has
now become brighter and simpler, some-where I have never been before….
